Philip Dames is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Temple University, with secondary appointments in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer and Information Sciences. He directs the Temple Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Lab (TRAIL), and his research aims to improve robots’ ability to cooperate in teams and to operate in complex, real-world environments to address societal needs. Prior to joining Temple, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in Electrical and Systems Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. He received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from the GRASP lab at the University of Pennsylvania in 2015 and his B.S. (summa cum laude) and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University in 2010. He is the recipient of an NSF CAREER award.
